My role is to help you transform your food experiences—whether family recipes, cultural traditions, or meaningful meals—into a beautifully written and professionally designed memoir that reflects your unique voice. Each memoir is tailored to suit the individual, meaning no two projects are exactly the same. However, the process typically includes the following steps:

 

1. Initial Engagement

• Fill out the Initial Engagement forms where you will provide details about your vision for your project, your goals and what you hope to achieve with your food memoir.

• You can also flag key themes or events you’d like to focus on, who the memoir is intended for, and specify any preferences or requirements you have for the writing style, tone, and voice of your memoir.

 

2. Proposal and Quote

• I’ll send you a customized proposal outlining the scope of work, timeline, and pricing within 14 days. You'll also get to see an outline of the structure, themes, and key elements of your story. 

• As a general guide, pricing for a standard memoir starts at $350 + $60 per hour of work. A small memoir may take 30-50 hours of work whereas a comprehensive and complex memoir can take up to 120 hours.

• Once you've paid your $350 deposit, you will receive detailed instructions on how to provide me with all the details I'll need to construct your memoir.

 

3. Gather and prepare content

• You will receive a series of writing prompts and questions that will help you delve deep into your memories, experiences, and reflections.

• You can answer these questions in your own time at a pace that is comfortable for you.

• You will also receive instructions on how to gather and prepare any written material, recipes, photographs, or memorabilia you'd like included in your memoir.

 

4. Organizing and Structuring

• After collecting all the details, I’ll organize the material into a cohesive structure. Together, we’ll decide on the best format for your memoir—chronological, thematic, or a mix of both.

• You’ll have the opportunity to review the proposed structure and provide input before writing begins.

 

5. Writing and Drafting

• This is where your story comes to life. I’ll craft your memoir in a narrative style that feels authentic to you.

• You’ll receive drafts at key stages, ensuring your voice and story are represented accurately and beautifully. Feedback and revisions are an essential part of this process.

 

6. Design and Layout

• Once the text is finalized, your memoir will be professionally designed to enhance its presentation.

• We’ll work together to choose layouts, fonts, and any accompanying imagery, ensuring the final product is visually stunning.

 

7. Printing and Presentation

• Your completed memoir will be prepared for printing. You can choose from a range of formats, from elegant hardcover books to digital versions that can be shared easily.

• If you prefer, I can manage the printing process for you, ensuring a seamless experience.

 

8. Delivery and Celebration

• Your memoir will be delivered to you as a polished, professional keepsake ready to be treasured for generations.
