REBECCA'S KITCHEN
Where meals are made simply, for lives lived fully
Hi, I'm Rebecca, a food writer and storyteller.
In my kitchen food is a lens through which we explore identity, longing and belonging. The past simmers beside the present, fiction intertwines with memory, and the stories we tell about food gently unfold...softening the edges of who we were, revealing who we are, and quietly shaping who we are becoming.
Food stories allow us to examine the past, connect with the present, and imagine a different future. They allow us to explore our beliefs about nourishment, celebration, restraint, abundance, comfort and change. These same stories become a compass, guiding us to our own personal identity where we can begin writing new stories.
Through essays, story cookbooks, memoir and fiction, I explore the emotions and experiences that connect us to what we eat, and how the food stories we carry shapes our personal identity. I write about longing and belonging, about inheritance and reinvention, and about the quiet ways food holds our memories, guiding us back to where we came from while helping us imagine who we might still become. For me, food is never just food. It is the quiet force shaping our lives and who we are. It's the migration packed into a suitcase, the love story that never leaves us, the longing for somewhere we once belonged... or somewhere we hope to find ourselves.
I hope my writing helps you explore your own food story...one that is still unfolding. A story you are allowed to examine, to soften and to rewrite. And I hope that here, you feel less alone in your longing, more confident in your becoming, and more connected to your table, to your people, and to yourself.
If you are drawn to food not just as sustenance but as story, and if you want to preserve, explore, or reimagine your own food narrative, you've come to the right place.
